Lindskoog and Dante

Lindskoog did a version of the Commedia?

I didn't know that. Has anyone read it? Did she work on just the Inferno and Purgatorio (that's all I can find on Amazon) or on all three parts?

(I never met her, but we went to the same church. I found this article by accident when I googled my priest's name cause I was bored. :) I assume he's the one who wrote this review--surely she didn't know two Father Davids?)

Gleeful Extremist: Big list o' books

Gleeful Extremist: Big list o' books

I found this book list on a friend's blog. Evidentally it's been circulating the blogosphere (if that is a word!) any thoughts?

Interesting Title

I just got a copy of Eternal Feminines: Three Theological Allegories in Dante's Paradiso by Jaroslav Pelikan. I don't know when I'll get a chance to read it as I have a pretty heavy reading list already for this summer, but it looks intriguing. Pelikan is no Dantista but he is a brilliant scholar who has fruitfully gone outside his own field (the History of Christian Doctrine) in the past. Has anyone here read the recently reprinted Williams book yet?

concerning Newness

any thoughts why Dante called his work The New Life? What sense of "New" did he have in mind? Does "New" belong closely to "Life?" If so, what was he thinkinbg by this association?

Search for the Historical Beatrice

What was it about Beatrice (the real girl, not just the figure) that had such an impact on Dante? Did she affect other people in the same way?

Have there been others who've had a Beatrice-like experience?
